Join us for an evening of social drawing, poetry & wordplay celebrating the 350th anniversary of the publication of Paradise Lost.

Based on the parlour game made popular by surrealist artists, Exquisite Corpse takes place on the burial place of John Milton on the anniversary of his death.

The evening is hosted by Frog Morris and special guest artist will be making artworks to get the games started, and maybe the ghost of John Milton will join us too…

Exquisite Corpse is a vintage drawing game made popular by Surrealist artists in the 1920s. Participants draw heads, bodies and legs on a folded sheet of paper, which is then passed along for others to add to. The catch? You can’t see what’s beyond the fold…

Exquisite Corpse explores the pervasive themes of life and death within Paradise Lost as well as the historic anecdote that Milton’s corpse – exhumed 116 years after his burial – received “obscene and scandalous treatment” as portions of his bones, hair and teeth were removed, examined and dispersed.
